BE ACTIVE BE WELL
“Be Active, Be Well” Project is based on the conviction that regular physical activity can encourage protective variables that empower the person and act as protection that reduces the vulnerability to suffering from mental disorders. Although one way of improving mental health is by being regularly physically activity, more than 80% of the world’s adolescent population is insufficiently physically active.
Scientific evidence has demonstrated that regular physical activity protects mental health.
- It’s effective in preventing and decreasing depressive symptoms.
- It’s effective in reducing the risk of anxiety symptoms and anxiety disorders.
BABW’s objectives are:
- Increase the physical activity of youth by making it more attractive and accessible especially to youth with less opportunities
- Encourage and train youth workers to implement physical activity in their work.
- Raise awareness of the importance of regular physical activity among youth.
BABW’s results are:
- A Best Practices Guide with detected bottlenecks and motivators for regular physical activity among youth.
- An online platform that motivates youths and youth workers to integrate regular physical activity into the daily life routines of the youths.
- A User Guide for Youth to guide youth through physical possibilities (how to use it and benefit from it) and a User Guide for Youth Workers to train them how to implement physical activity in their work
- Training for youth workers to integrate online platform and regular physical activity within youth counseling.
- Project website in English and all partners' languages
