Supporting refugees/migrant children and families in North and Central Greece through the provision of social and psychological support following COVID-19 outbreak in Greece
“The Smile of the Child” implements the 3-month project entitled “Supporting refugees/migrant children and families in North and Central Greece through the provision of social and psychological support following COVID-19 outbreak in Greece”.
The overall goal of the project is to improve the living conditions of 50 families of migrants / refugees with at least 100 children, in the regions of Attica and Central Macedonia, by reducing their vulnerability to corona virus and by strengthening their resilience through livelihood opportunities.
Specific objectives of the project are:
- To provide access to quality supplies, equitable access to safe food and beverage supplies as well as any other service that may need at the basis of holistic approach and no discrimination (i.e. medical services, provision of other goods) that the organization applies.
- To provide empowerment through the implementation of psychosocial support.
Also, as part of the project, the beneficiaries (50 families with 100 children) will be provided with personal hygiene supplies to limit the spread of corona virus, such as gloves, masks, hand sanitizers, as well as with useful information on hygiene rules.
The aforementioned intervention, which started on 1st May 2020, is supported by the German Foundation Kindernothilfe (KNH).
