SUMMIT - Safeguarding Unaccompanied Migrant Minors from going Missing by Identifying Best Practices and Training Actors on Interagency Cooperation
“The Smile of the
Child” participated as an associate partner in the Project “Safeguarding
Unaccompanied Migrant Minors from going Missing by Identifying Best Practices
and Training Actors on Interagency Cooperation” (SUMMIT) that is being
implemented with the financial support from of the European Union.
The general objective of the project was to reduce the numbers of unaccompanied
migrant children who will go missing and to protect the rights that they are
entitled to, by the following actions:
- To identify best practices in the prevention of and response to vulnerable
UAMs going missing from reception centers
- To develop guidance for improved interagency cooperation in preventing and
responding to the problem of missing unaccompanied migrant minors
- To facilitate implementation of the guidance through joined seminars involving
all relevant actors/stakeholders
The Project was implemented under the coordination of Missing Children Europe (MCE)
with the participation of the following organizations:
- University of Portsmouth (England)
- KENTRO MERIMNAS OIKOGENEIAS KAI PAIDIOU – KMOP (Greece)
- TUSLA, Child and Family Agency, HSE (Ireland)
- NIDOS (Netherlands)
- The Child Circle (Belgium)
- Defence for Children – ECPAT Nederland (NL)
In addition, in the project participated the following organizations as associate partners:
- The Smile of the Child, Greece
- Fundacion ANAR, Spain
- Telefonno Azurro, Italy
- Child Focus, Belgium
- Missing People, UK
- Consortium of «Hope For Children» UNCRC Policy Centre, Cyprus
The project started
on October 2014 and was completed on March 2016.
