Α Summer visit by Moraine Valley Community College students
Moraine Valley Community College is one of the largest in the state of Illinois, with a history of more than 50 years, that aims to provide a learning-centered environment, where each individual recognizes its responsibilities to other people, to the community and to the world. It has facilities in Palos Hills, Blue Island (2004) and Tinley Park (2010).
As part of the continuous improvement of the learning environment, but also to maintain a globally, multicultural community, 12 students in the field of Sociology, along with their teacher, in June visited the Support Center for Children and Families in Maroussi, as well as the Organization's Panhellenic Coordinating Operational Center for Direct Social & Medical Intervention "Andreas Yannopoulos".
At the Support Center for Children and Families, they were informed by a Social Worker of the Organization about the services provided - material support, important items for a child (books, toys), psychological and medical support, coverage of educational needs etc.- so that the family in crisis can stand on its feet with dignity.
During the visit to the Operational Center, they were shown around the premises and were informed about the services provided by the 10 Action Centers of the Agency -National Center for Missing Children & Adults, Center for Violence & Bullying, National Center for Abuse & Exploitation, Helplines & Hotlines 1056/116000/116111/1017, Center for Internet Safety, Care Homes, Center for Support of Vulnerable Families, Children & Youth, Center for Health Services, Center for Crisis Management, Academy for Education & Training “Smile Academy”- the followed procedures under different circumstances, the vehicles and mobiles units, the high-level logistical equipment, etc.
Thank you so much for the beautiful visit and the your interest in the holistic work of the "Smile".
